IntroductionThe World Culture and Sports Festival was inspired by the success of

the 1988 Olympics held in Seoul, Korea. Its focus is on events that will lead to a

healthy world civilisation based on True Love, True Citizens and True Families. The

Festival plays host to many world renown leaders, statesmen, academics, politicians,

scientists and religious figures who take part in a wide range of conferences which

focus on bringing world peace through; society, culture, religion, the media, the arts,

education, and youth. The highlight of the entire festival is the international marriage

blessing ceremony. Thousands of people from all walks of life have already

participated in this very special ceremony to reaffirm their marriages centring on

God.WCSF I and WCSF II were held in Seoul, Korea in 1992 and 1995 respectively.

WCSF III was held in Washington, DC in 1997. The main event of the WCSF '98 will

be held in Madison Square Garden, New York. At the same time, couples from all

over Europe will gather together in Bratislava, Slovakia for the main European event.

A bi-directional satellite TV link will be established between each of eleven locations

throughout the world making this a truly international event. This will give all

participants the opportunity to not only share with the main event in New York, but

also with other participants in each of the different locations across the globe.

Declaration of the Families1. As man and woman we promise to love and be eternally

loyal to each other.2. We promise to raise our children to be exemplary and

responsible people.3. Starting in our own family we promise to contribute to peace in

society and the world by living for others.

FFWPU - Family Federation for World Peace and Unification The purpose of the

Family Federation for World Peace and Unification is to strengthen family values and

encourage families to serve society. Inspired by the vision and example of the

Reverend and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon, the FFWPU seeks to create a vehicle of

education and service to promote the spiritual renaissance of the family as the

foundation of society. Philosophically, the Family Federation movement is based on

Godism, a theistic world view that transcends the polarising ideologies of Left and

Right and recognises the authenticity of all major religious traditions. To fulfil this

vision, the FFWPU declares the following goals and purposes: To unite families and

individuals in practical efforts toward the realisation of world peace under God To

create programs of moral education in support of family values which transcend

racial, ethnic, and national barriers To promote mutual understanding and the

resolution of international and interracial conflict To educate young people toward

the end of establishing strong families which can serve their societies and the world To

promote democracy and international cooperation, based on the principles of equality

and mutual responsibility

The Founders’ MessageToday’s young people will create tomorrow’s world. A culture

of heart, based on true love, will bring each of the world’s cultures into full bloom. It is

our intention that the World Culture and Sports Festival will be an occasion to

celebrate the brotherhood and sisterhood of humanity and the creation of ideal

families. The model of one world family of mankind, united in true love and

transcending differences of race and colour, can provide a guiding vision for the

fulfilment of world peace. Man and women of all religions who subscribe to this ideal

are invited to participate in the WCSF ‘98. This ceremony will be conducted in the

name of God as a demonstration of commitment to lasting family relations and

eternal values. By living according to high ethical standards, these couples can

provide a model of morality and lead the way towards the creation of ideal families,

societies, and nations.We hope that all people will lend their support to the World

Culture and Sports Festival as a symbol of the united hope of God and humanity.
