Anthony Brooke, born 1912, is a descendant of Sir
James Brooke, who in 1841 became known as the first White Rajah
of Sarawak. Three generations of the Brooke family ruled the
country as an independent sovereign state for just over a hundred
years, until it became a British colony in 1946 and subsequently,
in 1963, entered the Federation of Malaysia. Anthony Brooke,
as Rajah Muda of Sarawak, ruled for a period in 1939, and after
World WarII he campaigned constitutionally for five years with
Sarawak nationalists against the transformation of the territory
into a British colony. Since then he has been associating himself
with groups and movements concerned with focusing attention on
human unity as an underlying spiritual reality and exploring ways
in which individuals, groups and communities, in a network
of linkage throughout the world and through inner growth and transformation
may serve to make an essential contribution to universal world
harmony.
The contents of this book centre around the fact
of ever accelerating change, and point to the many different ways
open to the individual to become informed about, and respond to,
the necessity for inner transformation, so that he may move creatively
with the changes and participate effectively in the new world
that is coming to birth-and himself help to build this new world.
